The fastest html viewer arrives. Powerpacked with TONS of features.
Empower has its latest missile, HTML Mail Viewer: PRO Edition. Countless features additions apart, one thing that EMV Pro will be known for is its speed. With Pro we have left all other email viewers gaping far behind in terms of performance. The benchmark is us.
And who says, BlackBerry code has to be bloat?
And who says, System fonts cannot be supported? Pro supports native fonts.
And who said you need to manually try each connection. And then fiddle around with APN because you are just not getting the images right. EMV Pro auto-detects your connection settings.
And who said you only format the incoming part. Then who will format the rest? EMV Pro detects Inline replies & shows them in Color. Not only that, EMV Pro even detects Signature blocks in incoming emails and shows them in different color.
And why does Reply, Forward etc not work when I switch to Spanish locale? Oh no, certainly you are NOT talking about EMV Pro. EMV integrates completely! People today are using Empower in Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch and even Chinese and Greek languages!
And who says, Caching can only be on Device memory. So that you rob the device of its precious memory? And overload it with images off the Internet (most of which are useless anyway).
Think intelligent. EMV Pro implements a Cache on your SD Card! 1 GB of data? Bring them on.
Yes, you can show the fonts and the colors. But who will do the paragraph detection, and word wrapping? Who will remove the extra line breaks. And who will correct the repeat links that appear twice? Who will take care of special characters like copyright, trademarks, registered… Well, well, well…. EMV Pro does. We have written the most advanced parser that html-formats your email in the blink of an eye. Talk about performance buddy.
But certainly you have other 3rd party apps installed, right? Then why are they not able to talk to your email client? He he.. Well EMV Pro does.
With Pro, we have opened a set of APIs to the superior html viewing capabilities of Empower. Any 3rd party developer who wants to use EMV Pro inside his app can do so! Talk about convergence, talk about integration. Talk about user wins!
And why does a change of device requires me to hunt for that lost registration key.. buried deep inside my email archive.. which if found will anyway not work because the key was tied to the PIN! And then require me to email the support? EMV Pro implements web based registration. Changed your device? Click on Update Registration. And then… Nothing. Thats all.
What!
Yep, seriously. Thats all! Just click on “Update Registration”. Pro does the rest.
Sing along and rock the world! Go ahead, Empower Your BlackBerry.
Release Version 1.0 is here. And here’s the surprise.
1. Folder Based Alerts!Starting Version 1.0 now you can select important BES Folders for yourself and we will sound an alert when a new email arrives in any of them! Look for “BES Messages” under Options. Please note this option is NOT ENABLED by default. Also, the tone for the alert can be set under an entry named “BES Messages” in profiles.
2. Native Integration: So let’s say you have already launched the native messages app and are reading your BIS emails. Just then a BES email arrives at your official id. And you need to view all your BES emails only - without the clutter of PIN, SMS, and personal emails. Do you exit to HomeScreen and launch BES MailBox? No. Empower BES MailBox integrates with your native app, and allows you direct access to your BES MailBox from inside the native app as well. Just click on “BES MailBox” menuitem.
3. Icon Notification: Icon change has been implemented on arrival of new emails, to give the same consistent experience of native app for BES MailBox as well.
Separate your BES emails from all your BIS emails, SMS, PIN, Browser messages etc.
If you are only on BIS, this is not for you. Even though you must read it because tomorrow you may be on BES.
On BIS each email account is created separately and you get an icon for each on your HomeScreen. So you neatly click on Yahoo to read Yahoo emails, and Gmail to read your Gmail account. But BES is different.
All your BES messages go to the Main Messages app.
That means if you have 5 internet email accounts configured under BIS, you are in for a total nightmare searching for your Corporate Emails. BES Emails always show up in the Main Messages with all your BIS emails and SMS/PIN/Browser messages. Search, Filter etc apply on all the messages, so if you search for your boss George, it may also throw you an internet spam you received long time back from someone pretending to be George Bush and trying to sell you magical pills !
Not any more. Enter - Empower BES MailBox. No more searching for that important email from your boss among your 500 unread internet emails. Clutter-free work emails just a click away.
Just close to version 1.0, we had version 1.1 and now again we are ready with v 1.2 !
But wait, the title says v2.0 ?
Yes, it does.
And that exactly signifies the pace at which we are moving. We completed Version 1.2 and before we could package it up for release (you know zip files, OTA files, release posts etc) we were developing so fast that version 2.0 got ready - Even before we had the chance to get 1.2 out of the door !
So you see - v1.2 got eaten up by our frantic development pace
Grab version 2.0 afresh from either http://www.mobylo.com (PC-DM) or OTA from http://m.mobylo.com
A new paradigm for BlackBerry application development.
Pluggable architecture has long been existing in PC world, widely used, loved by users and developers alike. We are trying to do the same in BlackBerry. Empower is built as a set of components that plug into a common codebase.
Why components?
For Freedom.
For Choice.
Our aim is to provide Empower in a way that celebrates freedom for users - I can choose exactly what features I want to install. For ex, if I am on 8300 and want Folders and HTML but no SpellCheck (as its already there on 8300) then Empower allows me to do so.
But if I am on 7290 or older devices, and want Spellcheck & HTML, but not Folders then Empower allows that as well. And if I want neither Folders nor SpellCheck, but only HTML - well, Empower supports that also - just take the HTML
The idea is that your device does not gets unnecessarily cluttered with features that you DON’T want. No bloated software, no strain on the limited resources of a mobile device.
As long as the minimum base is there, separate components will plug-in and work seamlessly - That’s our vision.
Over the past few days, all of Communicator components have entered Alpha. While work continues on SpellCheck & Folders, the first component - HTML Mail Viewer enters public beta today. And everything from RIM OS 4.0.2 onwards is supported!
Also in line are two new features that will be included soon. Just to ensure that you are not left behind with an older version, when everyone else moves to a newer version, I request you to provide us an email id, I will drop you a line when we release a new update, or a new component.
To install OTA, point your BlackBerry browser to www.getempower.com/emv.php - If its fast, you will notice its just 26 Kb!
Also please note, its a work in progress. We are happy to hear your comments, feedback and suggestions, just shoot us a line at support@getEmpower.com
So, All the best and Welcome to Empower ! Many thanks to the very first users of EMV - Stacey, Paul, Christian, Nathan, Bob, Low, thank you all for your feedback and for trying it out. Special thanks to Stacey Tenen for suggesting us on Modularization, you’ve been really insightful.
What makes a great product? Teamwork, dedication and a passion to create the ultimate!
Alpha 1 was released to testers today. It is surely going to change the way we think about BlackBerry messages! For those not in there yet, here are a few screenshots of the Communicator in action -
Folders, Rule-based Filters, Auto-spell check and HTML View - Yo Man! You’ve it all
But hey, that’s not all.. the revolution has just started.. there is more to come. Stay tuned.
BlackBerry lacks spell checking functionality. And whatever spell checkers are available, they do the spell checking at the end. They often send the contents to the web server to do this checking.
Here we present a device based spell checker, that checks the spellings as you type, and offers suggestions as soon as you request.
